Southport Liveable Neighbourhood
Liveable Neighbourhoods are healthier, happier, cleaner places to live, learn, work and play. Sefton Council want to create a Liveable Neighbourhood in Southport to make the streets more pleasant, active and people friendly. Sustrans will be working with local people over the coming months to create a unique design for the project area.
Local people understand the area best. We want everyone to get involved who lives, works, learns and plays in Southport.
All properties in the project area will receive a mail out about the project and a survey through the post over the next couple of weeks.
Sefton Council have been looking into what can be done to make the streets better for people walking and cycling in the Portland Street area for quite some time. The project area is therefore based on a 10 minute walk across this area, with 5 minute walks or less to key services and facilities such as those on Shakespeare Street. To learn more about how the area was chosen, visit the project background.
Working together we can create street designs that improve the look and feel of your streets and make short journeys by foot, wheelchair, scooter and bicycle easier and safer for everyone. Your expert local knowledge is essential in helping to identify the issues you face and your ideas and solutions for the area.
