Last night saw the first of our new Sefton Cycle Chats; replacing our old format of the Sefton Cycle forum, the last evening of January saw 47 enthusiastic and knowledgeable cyclists descend on Mecycle Cafe in Ainsdale for a an evening of information sharing, discussion on new ideas and planning for a more two wheeled future.
The evening kicked off with a introduction from Councillor Weaver, before input from Jean Hunt and Peter Hilsden representing Sefton Councils Cycling Team. Further input was presented by Officers from Cycling UK, Cycling Projects and Sustrans, all partnership organisations who assist Sefton in the planning and delivery of their cycling provision. This was followed by a short video depicting how one town in Holland has embraced cycling and improved the health, wellbeing and productivity of it’s residents and made it a model for others to follow.
Group workshops ensued, discussing what further provision of cycling initiatives and developments would like to be seen, how we may achieve these and what barriers we may face to get there. The evening was brought to an end with feedback from the groups and a huge thank you to all that attended and to Mecycle for hosting the successful first Sefton Cycle Chat.
We will be publishing the finding from the discussion groups and planning the next date for the forth coming chat – If you would like more information or have any further comments to add, please contact us with any ideas, thoughts or comments.
