Yesterday we delivered a Group ride leader course to 6 of our current led ride participants.
The cyclists had been attending our led rides for some time now, many had returned to riding after an absence of 20-30 years and had used the led rides to increase their fitness and decrease their waist lines, improving both their physical and mental health and wellbeing whilst also improving confidence and making new friends.
After a few years of riding with us they put themselves forward to give something back, volunteering to become volunteer group leaders to support our led ride programme.
The course is recognised and accredited through Cycling UK and provides attendees with knowledge around planning a ride, managing groups whilst cycling and post ride procedures. It was a full day with a mixture of theory and practical assessment but the great news is that all 6 attendees successfully passed the course and gained their accreditation. This was a great achievement, particularly given the challenging November weather conditions!
3 of our new Group Leaders have already put their new found skills into action, assisting a led ride the very next day.
A huge thanks and well done to all.
